Sensei Jason Woolerton

Owner and Head Coach

Owner and head coach of J.W Judo Academy – Sensei Jason has just under four decades of experience in the sport of Judo, both competitively and as a coach.
Jason was a highly successful Judo athlete and a Team G.B. member from age 11, winning multiple national titles and medals and competing for G.B. internationally at cadet, junior and senior levels.
Jason started Judo in North West London at Willesden Judo Club, at the age of 5, under the guidance of Leigh and Helen Davies. Willesden was one of the top competitive clubs nationally and competed internationally. The work ethic and family feel the club has been the key to Jason's and the club's successes. Jason has trained with and coached many of today's judo stars.
Jason also received extra technical help and support from Lloyd Alexander and the late Simon Hicks (Founder of FightingFilms) at Wandsworth Ernest Bev. In 2006 Jason's judo career ended prematurely following a severe and debilitating back injury, which meant he could not compete again and never reach his true potential.
Jason is passionate about sharing his judo skills with others, growing J.W Judo Academy and hoping that one day his players can emulate the successes of Willesden Judo Club.
